Can Immigrants Own Guns In America?

American immigration laws are complex and always changing. When it comes to owning guns, there are statutory limitations both on the federal and state level that prohibit certain individuals from possessing a firearm.
The only people who can only have guns are:
U.S. Citizens
Green Card Holders
A Few Non-Immigrants Who Get Special Permission from Department of Justice or U.S. Government such as:
People admitted to the United States for lawful hunting or sporting purposes.
An Indian tribe federally recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs
Generally, only citizens and permanent residents can purchase firearms freely subject to local, state and federal restrictions. All other foreign nationals should stay away from firearms and related paraphernalia.
Please consult with your immigration attorney AND a firearms attorney before attempting to purchase any firearms.
